Gen 3 Pinnacle Meets Gen 4.

The Pinnacle image intensifier tube from ITT Industries Night Vision Division has successfully passed US Government qualification testing with what ITT calls "performance that exceeds all other Gen 3 tubes worldwide". Neil Gallagher, President and General Manager for ITT Industries Night Vision mentions that, "while working on development of the `filmless' Gen 4 tube, we continued to push the envelope of Gen 3 performance. What we got was a Gen 3 filmed tube that met -- and often exceeded -- the performance specifications of the newly developed Gen 4". ITT will deliver its Pinnacle tube to the US Army for the AN/PVS-14 -- a hand-held, head-, helmet- or rifle-mounted night vision monocular. The Pinnacle is also qualified for deliveries of the AN/AVS6 and -9 aviation night vision systems.
