Gelco Releases Advanced Version of Gelco Travel Manager.

Business Editors

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2001

Gelco, the largest and most experienced provider of e-business expense management and reimbursement programs, announced the release of Gelco Travel Manager 8.0(R) for government customers.

This latest edition to the Travel Manager family of applications and services is ready for distribution, and has recently been installed at the Department of Education, U.S. State A U.S. state is any one of the fifty subnational entities of the United States, although four states use the official title "commonwealth". The separate state governments and the federal government share sovereignty, in that an American is a citizen both of the federal entity and  Department, and the Department of Transportation.

The software consists of a suite of modules that merge the robust end-to-end functionality of Gelco Travel Manager, with a highly intuitive, user-friendly format. New features include faster processing of data, cost allocation for ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer.  systems, and an Invitational feature that enables customers to allow authorized individuals from outside their agency to access and use the system via a proxy. New and existing civilian agency customers with NT or Unix systems and Progress or Oracle databases will be the first to receive the application.

Other versions of Travel Manager are currently installed for users at 120 federal agencies and sites to process more than 1.8 million official business trips each year. Travel Manager has been proven to cut processing time for travel vouchers by up to 75 percent, and lower processing costs by more than 65 percent.

"We see a potential for our government customers to save even more by incorporating the leading edge technology of Travel Manager 8.0," said Jon Klem, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of the Gelco Expense Management Group. "Initial indications are that there will be an extremely high adoption rate given Travel Manager 8.0's streamlined functionality and ease of use. This will make users more efficient, which in turn, will further increase savings."

Government travelers can prepare and approve documents from their desktops. All approvals are routed via the Internet and feature electronic signature. The system contains all Federal Travel Regulations and per diem per diem adj. or n. Latin for "per day," it is short for payment of daily expenses and/or fees of an employee or an agent.  rates, which are updated automatically to ensure every trip is in compliance.

Users can identify the most economic fares and rates with a click of a mouse. Costs are compared to current budget availability, and audits are conducted electronically. Travel Manager interfaces with popular online booking tools, and can forward all trip information to a travel agency, if one is part of the process, to generate tickets and reservations.

"This is the most significant e-business advance for government travel management since we introduced Travel Manager," said Klem. "Federal agencies now have a global application travelers can learn to use with a minimum of training to produce maximum results."

In addition, customers can elect to outsource their traveler reimbursement to Gelco via a simple Payment Module within the system. Travelers are then reimbursed within three business days of filing their vouchers (expense reports), with split payment to GSA (1) (Global mobile Suppliers Association, Sawbridgeworth, U.K., www.gsacom.com) A membership organization of suppliers of GSM products and services.
