Gehl Company to expand Madison and Yankton, S.D., facilities.

WEST BEND, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 1996--The Gehl Company (NASDAQ:GEHL) board of directors has approved a 22,400 square foot expansion project at the company's Madison, S.D. skid steer loader manufacturing facility and a 30,400 square foot expansion project at the company's Yankton, S.D. facility that produces Dynalift(R) telescopic rough terrain forklifts and Power Box(R) asphalt pavers.

The Madison expansion, coupled with a 4,530 square foot expansion completed earlier this year, will give Gehl a total of nearly 124,000 square feet under cover on the 27 acre Madison site. Ground breaking is scheduled for late September with a July 1997 completion expected.

The Yankton project, which is expected to begin in October 1996, will more than double the current plant capacity when completed in January 1998.

Total investment for both projects including buildings and related production equipment will be $5.2 million.

"These expansion projects will give us a much needed increase in plant capacity," according to Victor A. Mancinelli, Gehl executive vice president and chief operating officer. "We expect to augment our work force by approximately 50 employees in Madison and 60 employees in Yankton when we start running at full capacity."

Gehl Company is a leading manufacturer of equipment used worldwide in construction and agricultural markets. Founded in 1859, the company is headquartered in West Bend, with manufacturing facilities in West Bend; Lebanon, Pa.; and Madison and Yankton.
