1940 Madam Fatal is a crime-fighting man who dresses as a woman in Quality's Crack Comics.

1980 In Marvel Comics' Hulk Magazine, Bruce Banner is almost raped by lisping queens in a YMCA shower.

1984 Marvel's Defenders features a transgender hero-heroine named Cloud, while DC's villains Cannon and Saber love daringly in Vigilante.

1987 In the DC Comics series Millennium, the flamboyant and openly gay Peruvian character code-named Extrano appears drunk before attempting suicide.

1992 Marvel's Northstar comes out in Alpha Flight.

1994 The gay superhero comic book Go-go Boy arrives from Canada.

1995 Apache heroine Rainmaker is revealed as bisexual in the Gen 13 series, while gay teen hero Turbocharge appears in Prime.

1996 ABC broadcasts the first "Ambiguously Gay Duo" cartoons on The Dana Carvey Show.

1999 Wildstorm Comics reveals that heroes Apollo and Midnighter are gay lovers in The Authority. The two get married in 2002.

2002 Terry Berg appears as the Green Lantern's gay teen friend.

2005 Hulkling and Wiccan are underage boyfriends in Marvel's Young Avengers.
