) today announced its spring line-up of eMachines desktop and notebook PCs, its leading global brand of high-value PCs, notebooks and monitors sold through retail stores, for Japan.

The products are available exclusively through TSUKUMO Co. Ltd., one of Japan's pioneering electronics retailers, and its partner Ishimaru Denki, a leading Japanese home appliance retailer. Highlights from the latest eMachines desktop PCs include:

-- DVD/CDRW combo drive A Combo drive is a type of optical drive that combines CD-R/CD-RW recording capability with the ability to read (but not write) DVD media. The term was popularized by Apple Computer as a name for the low-end substitute for their high-end SuperDrive, which was designed to both read  and 256MB DDR (Double Data Rate) Refers to an SDRAM memory chip that increases performance by doubling the effective data rate of the frontside bus.
