GasID--portable gas and vapor identifier.

Smiths Detection, a leading provider of trace detection equipment, is proud to introduce the GasID, a compact portable gas and vapor identifier that uses Fourier Transform Fourier transform

In mathematical analysis, an integral transform useful in solving certain types of partial differential equations. A function's Fourier transform is derived by integrating the product of the function and a kernel function (an exponential function raised to
Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR FT-IR Fourier Transform-Infrared ) to measure how gas and vapor samples interact with infrared light Noun 1. infrared light - electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than radio waves
infrared emission, infrared radiation, infrared
. Each gas has its own unique infrared fingerprint, which, when analyzed by the GasID, is instantly compared against an onboard database to provide the identity of the unknown gas or vapor. Database libraries include Toxic Industrial Chemicals, Chemical Warfare chemical warfare, employment in war of incendiaries, poison gases, and other chemical substances. Ancient armies attacking or defending fortified cities threw burning oil and fireballs. A primitive type of flamethrower was employed as early as the 5th cent. B.C.  Agents, Volatile Organic Compounds volatile organic compound Environment Any toxic cabon-based (organic) substance that easily become vapors or gases–eg, solvents–paint thinners, lacquer thinner, degreasers, dry cleaning fluids , Flammables, and Non-flammables.

The GasID system is supported by the 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week Reachback service. With this service, users have access to Smiths Detection's scientists for data interpretation as well as to hardware and software technicians for responses to operating questions. If a system requires service, a replacement unit will be supplied. Users also have access to a password-protected Web site forum.
