Garrick-Aug named agent for West Side retail site.

Former Lechters Hardware is repositioned

The leasing team of Faith Hope Consolo and Joseph Aquino of Garrick-Aug Associates Store Leasing Inc., along with Senior Retail Consultant, Ferne Glanzrock, has been appointed exclusive agent for the prime retail space at 2139 Broadway, on the northwest corner of West 75th Street and Broadway.

It is presently Lechters Housewares house·wares

. There is a frontage of 25 feet, with approximately 2,619 SF on the ground level and approximately 2,600 SF basement level.

"This area simply keeps on getting better," says Mr. Aquino, Managing Director. "With each new store that opens, it becomes more and more exciting. This is probably the best location on the best block between Fairway Market and Zabar's, two of the most recognized food purveyors on the Upper West Side."

He continues, "Lechters Housewares, an institution in the neighborhood, has decided to close, because of the repositioning of its company to the new, larger 'Think Kitchen' concept."

"Fairway Market, located one block away, is one of the major heartbeats on the Upper West Side. The repeat pedestrian traffic is amazing," says Consolo, Vice Chairman. "The location really is great. Just across the street is the famous Citarella. Other retail neighbors, in the same building, are Papyrus papyrus (pəpī`rəs), a sedge (Cyperus papyrus), now almost extinct in Egypt but so universally used there in antiquity as to be the hieroglyphic symbol for Lower Egypt and a common motif in art. , Gazoontite, Cosmetics Plus, The Body Shop, and the newest addition, Neuhaus. Right across Broadway, a brand new Jean Louis Jean Louis (born Jean Louis Berthauldt, October 5, 1907, Paris, France - April 20, 1997, Palm Springs, California, USA) was a U.S. costume designer and multiple Academy Award nominee in Costume Design.  David will be opening soon."

"Diagonally across Broadway, on the east side, between 74th and 75th Streets is the Beacon Theater. The list of the famous and fabulous who have graced its stage is very long indeed: everyone from "Divas Live" and James Taylor

The theater was saved from being turned into a disco by determined residents. It is now a designated landmark."

"On the west side of Broadway, between 73rd and 74th Streets is the largest Food Emporium in the city. It is open twenty-four hours and is truly state-of-the-art. Another emporium, one of beauty, will be arriving next door in the very near future -- Sephora. Both are in the historical Ansonia Hotel which has been home to many of the famous in the musical world: Enrico Caruso, Ezio Pinza The Italian bass Ezio Pinza (18 May 1892 - 9 May 1957) was one of the outstanding opera singers of the first half of the 20th century. "This particular area has always been a wonderful place to live. Now it is becoming a wonderful place to shop. If you reside here, you don't have to go anywhere else. If you don't, you might want to visit to find out what there is to offer -- what you may be missing."
