Garibaldi Group brokers CIBA-GEIGY division move

Representing Ciba Consumer Pharmaceutical (CCP), a division of CIBA-GEIGY, The Garibaldi Group announced the signing of a 79,500-square-foot lease at Mack Woodbridge 11 in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

The move will house close to 200 CCP employees and is the first major relocation for this fast-growing over-the-counter pharmaceutical concern. Established in 1982, the company has grown at a rate of 20 to 25 percent every year and the Woodbridge move marks a major phase in the company's growth.

The 200,000-square-foot Woodbridge 11, currently under construction, is an eight-story office facility located on 9.8 acres off the New Jersey Turnpike. Groundbreaking for the office building took place last fall.

In assisting, CCP with the move, The Garibaldi Group was asked to narrow the geographic field to within a few miles of the company's current headquarters in Edison. Utilizing a specific set of standards established by CCP, the Chatham-based corporate real estate firm went through a thorough search before recommending the Mack site.

The 10-year lease will commence in 1992 when the building is slated for completion. According to Bob Morford, vice president of The Garibaldi Group, "Placing CCP in the proper environment and in the proper building was a critical factor in the search. The company has experienced a very healthy growth rate over the past ten years and it was essential that the new location be able to accommodate future growth."

Nearly 16 projects were reviewed before settling on Woodbridge 11.

The Garibaldi Group which has been associated with other corporate moves for CIBA-GEIGY, was represented in the transaction by Jeffrey Garibaldi, executive vice president and Bob Morford, vice president.
