WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Assumption 62, Southern N.H. 60

Junior point guard Trish Gardner drilled a 3-pointer with 27 seconds left in Manchester, N.H., to propel the Greyhounds (18-5, 12-4 Northeast-10).

Charde Floyd had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Bethany Plasski added 10 points and Sara Czarnecki eight for Assumption, which is ranked fourth in NCAA Division 2 Northeast.

WPI 63, Mount Holyoke 42

Sophomore guard Kathleen Selen of Worcester had 12 points and four blocks, classmate Serena Dubois had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Elle Fontaine came off the bench to score 14 points as the visiting Engineers (10-8) improved to 5-3 in the NEWMAC.

Fontaine shot 5 of 9 from the field, hitting all three of the 3-pointers, for WPI, which has won four of its last five.

Nichols 74, Curry 62

Margaret Lilly had 15 points and five rebounds for the visiting Bison (13-6, 5-2 Commonwealth Coast).

MaryLynn Skarzenski added 11 points, 8 assists and 12 steals, Kristina Weasel added 14 points and Jessica Nelson 10.

Nichols forced 34 turnovers, shot 53 percent from the field and had 17 assists.

Eastern Nazarene 52, Anna Maria 35

Juliana Eagles had 24 points and nine rebounds for the host AmCats (1-18, 0-7 CCC) but committed 10 turnovers, which resulted in 20 points for the Crusaders (5-14, 1-6).

Anna Maria shot 20 percent from the field and was outrebounded, 56-44.

Maine Maritime 68, Becker 50

Senior guard Kristin Karat scored 16 points and Beth Pion added nine points and seven rebounds, but the host Hawks fell to 10-9 and 5-5 in the North Atlantic Conference.

Maine Maritime is 12-7, 7-1 in the league.

Salem State 66, Worcester State 55

Sophomore center Danielle Jenkins of Marlboro scored 17 of her 29 points in the second half and collected eight rebounds to lead the Vikings (14-4, 5-1 MASCAC) over the visiting Lancers.

Maureen Lemay and Alexis George led Worcester State (5-13, 3-3) with 13 points each, with Lemay adding nine rebounds.

Quinsigamond 74, Hesser 69

Ginia Ivory scored 18 and Tialana Kastner added 17 as the visiting Chiefs (15-8) snapped a two-game losing streak.

MEN'S HOCKEY

Curry 5, Nichols 4

Keith Fink made 44 saves for the Bison, who lost in the final minute of overtime in Milton.

Jean-Marc Biron, Anthony Monte and Ryan Gervais scored in the second period and Glenn Cacaro in the third for Nichols (13-5-1).

UMass-Dartmouth 6, Fitchburg St. 1

Chris Riggs scored for the Falcons, who failed to earn coach Dean Fuller his 400th win. Fuller will have another chance when Fitchburg State (9-7-3, 5-3-2 ECAC Northeast) travels to Buffone Rink in Worcester to face Assumption at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Worcester St. 3, Framingham St. 0

Mark Elia, Tom Ford and Matt Kail each scored as the Lancers (2-17) won on the road.

Franklin Pierce 8, Assumption 4

The Ravens doubled-up the Greyhounds at Buffone Rink.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY

Holy Cross 4, New England College 3

Senior Sam Rush scored the winning goal off a feed from freshman Emily Henry at 1:34 of overtime for the Crusaders (11-7-1, 8-5 ECAC).

Freshman Monique Gallant stopped 22 shots, improving her record to 8-5-1.

New England College fell to 10-7-1, 7-5-1 ECAC.

Plymouth State

Northboro's Jason Hey, a senior at Plymouth State, won the slalom race at Pat's Peak in Waterville Valley, N.H.
