Gardening: What to do this week.

Lift gladioli by cutting off the stem just above the corm, digging out and ensuring they are dry before placing in store.

As outdoor chrysanthemums finish flowering cut them back and lift the stools, storing them in shallow boxes of compost

Protect alpine plants with hairy or downy foliage by covering them with a sheet of glass or plastic supported on wire legs

Remove yellowing leaves from Brussels sprouts. If you have space, make an early sowing of peas for an early crop next year

Dig up chicory chicory (chĭk`ərē) or succory (sŭk`ərē), Mediterannean herb (Cichorium intybus  roots and repot Verb 1. repot - put in a new, usually larger, pot; "The plant had grown and had to be repotted"
