Gannett concludes transaction to acquire Sacramento TV station.ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 1999-- Gannett has concluded the transaction with A.H. Belo to acquire KXTV, the ABC ABC in full American Broadcasting Co. Major U.S. television network. It began when the expanding national radio network NBC split into the separate Red and Blue networks in 1928. affiliate in Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto, Calif., and to receive other consideration in exchange for KVUE, the ABC affiliate in Austin, Texas. Sam Rosenwasser has been named president and general manager of KXTV. He was formerly president and general manager of KVUE. The announcements were made by Cecil L. Walker, president and chief executive officer, Gannett Broadcasting. With the completion of this transaction, Gannett Broadcasting consists of 21 television stations reaching 17.3 percent of the U.S. television homes and has nine stations in the top 25 markets. "Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto and KXTV-10 represent great growth opportunities for our company. Sam is a talented and experienced television executive who will provide strong leadership as we strive to better serve the needs of our viewers in these communities," said Walker. Prior to serving as president and general manager of KVUE, Rosenwasser was vice president and general sales manager. He joined KVUE as local sales manager in August 1991, was named general sales manager in November 1991 and was promoted to vice president in September 1994. Prior to his tenure at KVUE, Rosenwasser was local sales manager for KXAN- TV in Austin. He served as account executive for both WFAA-TV and KDFW-TV in Dallas. His broadcast experience also includes serving as account executive and as local sales manager at WBAP WBAP Well Being Action Plan Radio in Dallas and as station manager of KNTU KNTU KN.Toosi University of Technology Radio in Denton, Texas. Rosenwasser is a graduate of North Texas State University in Denton, Texas, where he earned his bachelor of arts degree in radio/television/film. He and his wife, Kay, and their daughter, Callie, have just relocated to the Sacramento area.
