(Nasdaq:JDAS) today announced that St. Paul, Minn.-based Gander Mountain, a leading outdoor lifestyle retailer, has realized substantial labor savings and efficiency gains using JDA Portfolio[R] software. Portfolio Workforce Management[TM] (PWM) has helped the retailer to realize up to 25 percent savings in overtime dollars by ensuring the optimum customer-to-employee ratio in every department at the company's 105 stores. With 2005 sales of $804.5 million and approximately 75 full- and part-time associates in each store, Gander Mountain partnered with JDA to achieve these results under an initially compressed timeline.

According to Ron Reitmeier, Gander Mountain's manager of store operations, labor management and new stores, the retailer migrated from disparate applications to an enterprise labor management solution to better serve customers, achieve cost savings and realize other efficiencies. They also wanted to leverage PWM's capabilities that enable fast action on impending overtime, under-staffing and other key performance indicators that might negatively impact operations, service or labor costs.

Reitmeier says that Gander Mountain has also lessened the risk of potential time abuse issues.

JDA Consultants Meet Compressed Implementation Timeline

Reitmeier said that JDA's knowledgeable and accommodating Consulting Services organization was able to meet Gander Mountain's compressed timeline, a key factor during the vendor selection process.

"At the onset, we presented a series of unique circumstances that required JDA consultants to modify the original implementation plan. JDA was able to meet our needs and the implementation of the first applications went very quickly and smoothly at all of our stores," commented Reitmeier.

To be more fiscally responsible during the implementation, Gander Mountain minimized travel costs by requiring that as much work as possible be done remotely over the telephone or via web conferences. Gander Mountain also did training and configuration work remotely when possible. For its maintenance needs, Gander Mountain relies on JDA's Customer Support team.
