Gandalf's New Remote Access Concentration Software Delivers Interoperability, Security And Cost Savings.

NEPEAN, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 1995--Gandalf Technologies Inc., (TSE:GAN, NASDAQ:GANDF) a leading supplier of remote access networking products, today announced the availability of a new release of software that connects and concentrates remote access users to the corporate network.

With the addition of SPX spoofing, Internet Protocol Control Protocol (IPCP), and port and protocol filtering, this software provides users with enhanced interoperability, increased security, greater operational cost savings, and higher control.

Combining high performance access with seamless connectivity, Gandalf's Remote Access Concentration (RAC) software allows organizations to effectively concentrate all of their teleworkers, remote offices, suppliers and customers. RAC software provides remotely located local area networks with on- demand access to the Internet, central corporate resources, as well as resources located at other company locations. The software works with a variety of switched and leased carrier services (including ISDN), allowing an organization to economically address its entire remote access needs. RAC software runs on Gandalf's Xpressway TM and XpressStack TM concentrators.

ENHANCED INTEROPERABILITY -- through support of both Internet Protocol Control Protocol (IPCP) and Bridging Control Protocol (BCP), RAC 3.2 allows Gandalf's high performance concentration solutions to concentrate all types of remote access devices used by teleworkers, remote offices, suppliers, and customers.

INCREASED SECURITY -- through protocol filtering, network managers can increase the security of their networks by restricting access based on any protocol.

HIGHER CONTROL AND FLEXIBILITY -- through port filtering, RAC 3.2 now offers increased control and flexibility in the design and management of remote access networks. Port filtering allows network managers to configure their system so that remotes can communicate with only the central LAN or with one another in addition to the central LAN.

RAC software version 3.2 builds upon existing features including industry-leading data compression technology; a comprehensive set of security options, ranging from physical link security to full user authentication with Security Dynamics' SecurID; call detail reporting, which allows network managers to account for usage; and Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) and PPP Multilink support, which provide companies more choice and flexibility for network design through interoperability with other vendors' equipment.
