Galorath Incorporated, the leading provider of advanced modeling tools to estimate, plan, and control projects, today announced SEER-SEM (Software Estimation Model) version 7.0, which includes a sophisticated new graphical interface, as well as new and enhanced features and functionality.

"This latest version of SEER-SEM will significantly improve the user's overall project planning and estimation experience," said Karen McRitchie, vice president of development. "We've created new risk analysis tools, improved reports and charts, and added a feature that lets the user set project goals and measure progress towards those goals. We have also incorporated the latest development environments and technologies into our tool."

Included in the new risk analysis tools for SEER-SEM 7.0 are "confidence and risk tuners," which are graphical aids that can be used to easily and quickly identify desired confidence levels and detailed risks. SEER-SEM version 7.0 also gives users the ability to set goals for cost, schedule, effort, peak staff, effective size, and defects, and SEER-SEM will provide a probability of reaching this goal.

A report publishing feature allows SEER-SEM reports to be exported to many formats, including PDF, ACEIT, Excel, and HTML. Users may optionally customize the published report formats if they have Crystal Reports.

Additionally, SEER-SEM version 7.0 now has a "staff tuner" built into the Staffing Plan. This new feature enables the user to change staffing and schedule inputs interactively right on the chart. Users will immediately see the impact of adding or subtracting people, cutting or extending schedules, and how these decisions will affect their projects.

SEER-SEM 7.0 also has a great new look. "Practically all of our customers cite SEER's user interface as one of our key advantages," McRitchie said. "It's one of our main differentiators and we've improved it to inspire even more customer loyalty." McRitchie added that additional features such as customizable view layouts, print preview, improved charts, and an enhanced tool bar are all new improvements designed to make the estimator's life a little easier.

In addition to the user interface improvements, SEER-SEM has an updated set of knowledge bases and other program factors. "We evaluated data from nearly 3000 projects as a part of this update," stated McRitchie. "All the user interface improvements in the world wouldn't matter if the SEER-SEM didn't provide the best possible estimates."
