Gallup charts decline in beer consumption.

Thirty-nine percent of drinkers say they most often drink beer. That may sound like a fair number, but it is actually the lowest percentage since the Gallup organization began tracking the data in 1992.

The data is from a poll that Gallup compiled in July of this year.

Back in 2003, 42% of people said they "most often" drank beer. And in 1994, 47% of people "most often" drank beer. Gallup found that distilled spirits have made gains in the meantime, with 24% of drinkers saying that liquor was their drink of choice, up from 18% in 1994.
