Gallery Resources Limited plans aggressive exploration program for Labrador.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 1997-- Gallery Resources Limited (ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) A relational DBMS from Sybase that runs on Windows NT/2000, Linux and a variety of Unix platforms.  in northern Labrador. Bruce Costerd, President and C.E.O., advises that the Company is committed to an aggressive exploration program on eight separate claim blocks in the Voisey's Bay area of Labrador.

Gallery's exploration approach will be directed by the results obtained during the previous two years of exploration activity carried out on the properties. These results, particularly at the Okak Bay Southwest and Notakwanon River properties, indicate the potential for discovering magmatic nickel-copper sulphide deposits.

Mr. Costerd points out that all eight of the properties, 100% owned by Gallery, are located in a corridor extending from Harp Lake Harp Lake is a lake in north-eastern Newfoundland, Canada.  to Okak Bay, an area which saw intense exploration activities carried out by other mining companies during 1995 and 1996. As a result of this unusual level of activity numerous new mineral occurrences have been discovered in areas that have never been systematically prospected or mapped. The new discoveries include mineralization detected in drill core and surface samples on the Okak Bay and Sango Bay Southwest properties. Of further significance is that these mineralized min·er·al·ize

magnetic and electromagnetic anomalies. These discoveries in an area with essentially no previous history of exploration should be viewed as a positive result, an observation which is shared by Newfoundland Department of Mines and Energy workers.

Mr. Costerd states that further rationalization of the proposed 1.4 million dollar ground survey and drilling program is not only based on Gallery's positive results from the previous two exploration season but the increased database being generated by both industry and government work programs. In addition, recent publication of Newfoundland Department of Mines and Energy report released in late March identifies several "clusters" of exploration projects which have "detected widespread sulphide mineralization of broadly magmatic character." Gallery was an early participant in the 1995 staking rush and was therefore successful in acquiring strategic and highly prospective land positions all of which are located within and around these clusters.

The prospectivity of these properties has already been demonstrated by the discovery of both nickel-copper sulphide and precious metals Precious Metals

(gold) mineralization during the 1996 exploration program.

The Company has a technical field staff based in Newfoundland which is currently obtaining the necessary exploration permits and organizing the 1997 program scheduled to commence in early June. This crew has been carefully researching the extensive amount of exploration and research data made available during the work programs completed in the past two years and is using this information to plan exploration strategies.

Gallery Resources is looking forward to positive results from several of its properties and will be using the most advanced exploration techniques to enhance the potential for discovering magmatic sulphide deposits. Included in the exploration program will be a magnototelluric survey which is a high precision ground geophysical survey Geophysical survey refers to the systematic collection of geophysical data for spatial studies. Geophysical surveys may use a great variety of sensing instruments, and data may be collected from above or below the Earth's surface or from aerial or marine platforms.  used to detect deep sulphide bodies at depths down to 4 kilometers. This technology will be used because of its ability to precisely define deep drill targets. In 1996, Diamond Fields Resources successfully used this survey on the Eastern Deeps zone at Voisey's Bay and accurately outlined the 1 kilometer deep massive sulphide body. Other successful magnototelluric surveys are also documented including the delineation of the 2 kilometer deep Trillabelle deposit located on the western flank of the Sudbury structure.
