The event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, beginning at 6 p.m. at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers Chelsea Piers, officially Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex, is a series of sports and entertainment buildings constructed on four adjoining piers on the West Side of Manhattan in New York City.  and include a cocktail reception, dinner and raffle. This year's Gala Chairs are Gary Greenspan of Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. and Charles D. Hammerman of The Disability Fund, Inc.

The gala is an important fundraiser for Special Olympics New York as well as an opportunity to acknowledge individuals who bring excellence to their respective professions while playing a role in improving the quality of life for New Yorkers.

Daniel L. Doctoroff is Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding for the City of New York. Under the leadership of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Doctoroff has overseen one of the city's most dramatic economic resurgences, spearheading the effort to reverse New York's fiscal crisis after the attacks of 9/11 through a five-borough economic development strategy. Prior to joining the Bloomberg administration, Doctoroff was Managing Partner of Oak Hill Capital Partners, one of the oldest and most respected private equity investment firms. Cooper has managed global real estate portfolios exceeding 35-million square feet. He is an Adjunct Professor of Real Estate-New York University, from 1988 to the present.

More than 40,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities participate in programs provided by Special Olympics New York, Inc.

Through sports training and competition, Special Olympics New York offers opportunities for athletes to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience the joy of achievement.

Athletes train and compete in nine regions across New York, accomplished through a network of 25,000 dedicated volunteers including more than 4,000 certified coaches.

All training for 22 Olympic-style sports and 400 annual competitions are cost-free to the athletes, their families and caregivers.

Sponsorships of the Eighth Annual Real Estate & Construction Gala are still available at the Premiere, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Levels and include an ad in the gala journal, additional acknowledgments by Special Olympics New York, and a table of 10 at the gala. Individual tickets are $750.
