 GYRATION AND C. ITOH ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC ALLIANCE;
 CONSUMER ELECTRONICS PRODUCTS TO USE MINIATURE GYROSCOPES
 SARATOGA, Calif., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- GYRATION Inc. announced today a strategic alliance with C. Itoh & Co. Ltd. of Japan for the exclusive marketing and distribution rights of GYRATION's miniature gyroscope products for the consumer electronics market. This alliance provides C. Itoh exclusive distribution rights for GYRATION products in Japan and a minority equity investment in GYRATION. Additional terms of the alliance were not disclosed.
 "C. Itoh has affiliations with numerous leading Japanese consumer electronics and automotive manufacturers," said Thomas J. Quinn, chairman and CEO of GYRATION. "This new alliance will allow GYRATION to adapt its gyroscope technology for use in many existing and future Japanese consumer electronics products, potentially creating worldwide impact."
 "The application of gyroscope technology is an evolution that will improve the accuracy, safety, functionality and diversity of consumer electronics products," said Yoshinori (Paul) Warashina, manager of the New Business Planning & Development Section of C. Itoh. "C. Itoh prides itself on looking forward to new ideas and visions in technology. GYRATION's gyroscope is a significant breakthrough in size, weight, power and versatility that we can't overlook."
 Gyroscopes measure and track the movement of objects. The objects can then be stabilized, realigned or redirected depending on the application. Industrial gyroscopes, which cost thousands of dollars and are typically bulky in size and weight, are used primarily for navigation in airplanes, ships and missiles. GYRATION's miniature optically based spin gyroscope, called GyroEngine, was created for use in consumer electronics and industrial applications. For a fraction of the cost of an industrial gyroscope, the GyroEngine, which was announced in October 1991, is designed for new consumer-based applications such as automobile braking systems, television remote controls, multimedia computer products and stabilization platforms for video cameras. GYRATION's gyroscope-based GyroPoint, a presentation pointing device for computer applications, will also be included in the alliance.
 Products using GYRATION's gyroscope will come to market by 1993.
 C. Itoh & Co. Ltd. is one of Japan's leading "sogo shosha" or trading companies, retaining some 10,000 employees and heading a corporate group that comprises 824 affiliated companies worldwide. The company's operations range from the distribution of raw materials to provision of finished products to end users and encompass various fields, all of which hold massive potential for growth.
 GYRATION Inc. designed the world's first miniature optical spin gyroscope for use in the consumer market. The company's mission is to provide this technology to a wider range of industries and applications than those which exist today. Founded in June 1989, GYRATION is privately held and based in Saratoga.
