GWS Photonics Demonstrates Wide Tunability of Its Core GWS Device Over the C Band.

 Photonics Inc. announced that it demonstrated for the first time wide tunability of its GWS core device covering the C band.

GWS Photonics' tunable sub-systems in the 1.55 um region, including tunable lasers and tunable filters, are all based on the GWS device tuning capability by application of an electric field.

GWS Photonics has received full exclusivity for GWS related patents from the Weizmann Institute of Science The Weizmann Institute of Science (מכון ויצמן למדע) is a world-renowned institute of higher learning and research in Rehovot, Israel. , where the technology has been under development for the past decade. Compared to other tuning devices, the GWS element, manufactured utilizing Silicon based technology, has the potential advantage of being inexpensive to produce in high volumes, while providing a large tuning range and robust performance, without moving parts Moving parts are the components of a device that undergo continuous or frequent motion, most commonly rotation. "Parts" only include the mechanical components which does not include fuel, or any other gas or liquid. .
