A 27-year-old woman was found shot to death in her Pacoima shower, and police Thursday were seeking her live-in companion for questioning in her death, officials said.

The body of Raquel Ledezma was found Wednesday night after a relative contacted by the landlord crawled through a window of the small back house in the 11700 block of Bromont Avenue.

Detectives were searching Thursday for Ledezma's live-in companion, identified as Alejandro Puente Ramos, 35, said Detective Jose Martinez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Division.

Ramos, who also goes by the last names Puente and Fuentes, has two unrelated active warrants for spousal abuse and driving on a suspended license for a DUI, said Detective Frank Bishop of the LAPD's Foothill Division.

Ramos was not considered a suspect in Ledezma's death, police said.

In an LAPD flier, authorities state Ramos has a ``past history of assaults and is known to possess firearms. He may be traveling to, or from, the Mexican border.''

Court records show Ramos was arrested on June 2 for carrying a loaded weapon in the city of San Fernando.

Ramos, described as a 140-pound, 5-foot-9-inch tall man with black hair and brown eyes, was last seen in a 1984 gray Mercury Topaz with California license plate 2BFA316, which was not registered to him, police said.

The couple's two children, ages 2 and 4, were taken into protective custody Wednesday evening after police found them with a baby sitter in the neighborhood, authorities said.

Police responded to the home at 6:38 p.m. Wednesday and found Ledezma dead from a single gunshot wound to her upper torso, Martinez said. Her body had been there several days, police said.

The sister-in-law of Fernando Montes, the landlord of the property, had heard a loud noise from the back home that woke her up between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Montes said.

Montes lives in a home in front of the victim's. He said he grew concerned Tuesday when the children's baby sitter visited his house to ask where Ledezma and Ramos were.

``I was just shocked. We watch it on TV on the news, and you never know when it's going to happen at your own home,'' a visibly shaken Montes said. ``You think it's never going to happen to you. It's just surprising.''

Montes said the family had lived at the Pacoima residence for about six months. ``They seemed like a good family,'' he said.

Residents in the neighborhood have grown accustomed to the sounds of gang gunfire outdoors, but not shots inside a family's home, they said.

``That is scary to me. This is close to your home,'' said Michael Fontenette, who lives a few doors down from the victim's home.
