One of the ski-masked robbers pointed a gun in Adrienne Miley's face and grabbed $4,000 she was sending to an Oregon bank as part of her house payment, then snatched a sapphire and diamond ring off her finger before fleeing.

``I'm so glad I'm not dead,'' Miley of Newhall said after the ordeal. ``I thought I was dead. I just kept thinking of my children and what this would do to them.''

The robbers, who stole several thousand dollars, sped away in a silver Buick, which police found several blocks away - with the engine running and turn signal blinking See dry eyes.  - in the parking lot of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church St. Stephen's Episcopal Church can refer to:

Police were still searching for suspects Monday evening, Kozelchik said.

Miley was treated at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital after complaining of chest pains brought on by the attack.

``He was pulling on my other ring, but he couldn't get it off, and he scratched me,'' Miley said, shaking. ``I'm a single mom with three kids. I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

Police went door-to-door in the Orchard Village neighborhood along Avenue Rotella, asking residents if they had seen anything suspicious around the time of the heist, Kozelchik said. However, there were no apparent witnesses to the gunmen' escape.

``We just wanted to make sure our students were safe,'' Gauthier said.

Bank and store employees gave authorities descriptions of the robbers and helped them find the Buick. The supermarket stayed open while police interviewed cashiers as they scanned customers' purchases. But the bank didn't plan to reopen until today.

``It was incredibly frightening,'' said Jaimi Hamann, 22, who was manning the floral department at Ralphs and the first person to see the robbers storm into the store.

``It was like watching a movie,'' Hamann said. ``I couldn't believe that it was happening. It is going to be hard to go back to work.''
