According to Simi Valley Police Department The Simi Valley Police Department (SVPD) is the police department of the city of Simi Valley, California. The department currently has over 120 sworn officers, and more than 65 support personnel[1]. The department has a patrol area that covers over 39 square miles.  officials, Allen had armed himself after being involved in a dispute with another person at his home. Officers could offer no further details about the nature of the dispute.

Police officers were dispatched to Allen's home on Drake Drive about 5:40 p.m. following a tip from an anonymous caller.

When they arrived, they saw several people in front of the house. Everyone but Allen fled, according to a police report.

As the officers approached him, Allen shined a flashlight in their faces, police said. They later learned he also was pointing a loaded semiautomatic handgun at one officer.

The officers repeatedly ordered Allen to drop the pistol and flashlight. When he refused, the two officers charged him. During the fight, Allen was struck several times with a baton and tackled to the ground.

Officers later discovered that Allen also had a loaded handgun in his pants pocket.
