GUILD PLANS SEASON OF FUN.Byline: Daily News NEWHALL - The Canyon Theatre Guild Theatre Guild U.S. theatrical society. The upcoming season will feature three musicals, Halloween and Christmas productions, Shakespeare, and a Wild West adventure, as well as a well-rounded family theater slate that includes classics and comedies. Opening the season July 26 is the popular musical ``The Music Man,'' directed by Patti Finley, which will go into early September. The suspenseful whodunit, ``Sleuth,'' directed by Barbara Huntington, will run from Oct. 11 through Nov. 2, and for the holidays, a stage version of the popular movie ``Jean Sheperd's A Christmas Story,'' directed by Greg Finley, will delight audiences. William Shakespeare's ``The Taming of the Shrew shrew, common name for the small, insectivorous mammals of the family Soricidae, related to the moles. Shrews include the smallest mammals; the smallest shrews are under 2 in. (5.1 cm) long, excluding the tail, and the largest are about 6 in. (15 cm) long. ,'' directed by Michael Davies, will play Jan. 24 through Feb. 22, followed by the rousing musical comedy ``Sagebrush sagebrush, name for several species of Artemisia, deciduous shrubs of the family Asteraceae (aster family), particularly abundant in arid regions of W North America. The common sagebrush (A. ,'' directed by Ingrid Boydston, which will open March 21 and play through April 26. Closing the season is the heartwarming heart·warm·ing or heart-warm·ing adj. 1. The Family Theatre Season of matinee performances offers something for everyone, beginning with the Halloween drama/comedy ``The Canterville Ghost,'' directed by Sharon Cummings, which will play Oct. 12 through Nov. 3. ``A Little Princess A Little Princess is a 1905 children's novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It is a revised and expanded version of Burnett's 1888 serialized novella entitled Sara Crewe: or, What happened at Miss Minchin's boarding school, which was published in St. ,'' the classic play with music, directed by Carol Rock, will play Jan. 25 through Feb. 23 and the hysterical Western musical spoof, `'Katastrophe Kate,'' directed by Leslie Berra, will open March 22 and close April 27. |
