GUILD ADDS MUSIC TO DICKENS' 'CAROL' UPDATED CLASSIC OPENS TODAY.

 will give Charles Dickens' classic tale ``A Christmas Carol'' a musical twist just in time to get audiences in a festive holiday mood, as they present ``Scrooge, the Stingiest Man in Town,'' beginning today at the Guild's new theater in downtown Newhall.

Businessman Ebenezer Scrooge Ebenezer Scrooge is the main character in Charles Dickens' 1843 novel, A Christmas Carol. He is a very cold-hearted, selfish man, who has no love for Christmas, children, or anything that even provokes happiness.  is played by Tim Ben Boydston - his third time at playing the role of the miserly mi·ser·ly

``This is one of my favorite My Favorite is an independent synthpop band from Long Island, New York. They released two CDs: Love at Absolute Zero and Happiest Days of Our Lives. As Scrooge rejects the festive goose and holly for the sterile pleasure of counting his wealth, he receives visits from his deceased partner, Jacob Marley Jacob Marley (birth date never revealed - December 24 1836) is a fictional character whose ghost appears in the Charles Dickens novel, A Christmas Carol.

In life, Marley was the business partner of Ebenezer Scrooge.
, and various other ghosts. He travels to the land of dancing toys, the Cratchit family hearth and a Victorian-era parlor, realizing along the way that the true meaning of Christmas is more important than all the gold in the world.

``This production will most assuredly get people into the Christmas spirit and give them the underlying meaning of Christmas,'' Boydston said. ``It's not about money, it's about peace and goodwill toward men.''

Boydston is joined by cast members Greg Finley as Marley; Bill Lively as Bob Cratchit; Nicole Ramage as Tiny Tim; Phil Schwadron as Nephew Fred and Patti Finley as Mrs. Dilber, Scrooge's charwoman.

Young Scrooge is played by Garrett Finley; his young love, Belle, by Kristi McCleary; and the ghosts include Sharon Newhardt and Andrea Camara as Christmas Past, Michael Davies as Christmas Present and Tim Taurig as Christmas Yet To Come. Narrating the story are carolers Leslie Berra, Linda Roth-Grayne, Ed Hill and Greg Finley.

Rounding out the Cratchit family are Holly Wolcott as Mrs. Cratchit; Robert Nathanson as Peter; Laura Luxmore and Christen chris·ten

Chris Wahla and Anna Wilson play Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig. Clerks in Scrooge's accounting firm include Ian Loveall, John Candelaria, Vic Antoyan and Caleb Di Paola. Robert Langenbucher plays rag picker Hawkins and the street beggars are played by Carol Rock, Greg Jenkins and Jim Robinson.

Co-directed by Helene Camara and Patti Finley, the production is a musical celebration of the true meaning of Christmas. Phil Schwadron provides additional direction and musical staging, choreographer Barbara Wright guides the dancers, and Andrea Vibe handles musical direction, with assistance from Leslie Berra.

The show is suitable for audiences of all ages, and performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 23 at 24242 San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the , Newhall.
