WEST GREENWICH, R.I., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- GTECH (NYSE: GTK) has signed a contract, effective today, to supply on-line equipment and services to the New York State Lottery. Under the contract, which is subject to approvals by the New York State Comptroller's Office and the New York Attorney General's Office, GTECH will provide its retailer terminals to all New York Lottery licensed agents and will provide and operate data centers in Schenectady and Saugerties, N.Y. The contract also includes an option for the Lottery to implement a keno-type lottery game.
GTECH also announced the successful implementation of a keno-type game, "Loto Express," by Loto Catalunya, in the Spanish province of Catalunya. GTECH also announced today that the State of Ohio has exercised an option to extend its contract with the company to operate its on-line lottery system from February 1993 to February 1994. GTECH has been providing on-line lottery services and equipment, including approximately 5,200 terminals, to the Ohio Lottery since 1985.
