GTE Telecommunication Services Inc. (GTE TSI) announced today it has formed a strategic alliance with Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), a major international provider of customer care and billing solutions to the telecommunications industry. The alliance was formed to implement state-of-the-art data applications and systems for wireless carriers to use in managing and protecting roaming revenues.

Plans include integrating Amdocs' open, client-server architecture and modular software with GTE TSI's existing products, ultimately resulting in near real-time processing of roamer data. With faster processing, carriers can bill roaming partners even more quickly, thereby improving cash flow.

The first solution resulting from the GTE TSI-Amdocs alliance will be an improved wholesale roaming rating service. GTE TSI currently offers Cell-U-Rator, which rates and edits roamer call detail records prior to clearing and settlement. The enhanced rating and conversion solution will provide new capabilities such as message error correction and web browser-enabled reporting.
