(ATI), the innovative leader in digital microwave radio systems, announced today that it has been selected by GTE to provide digital microwave radios as part of GTE's "ViViD" (Voice, Video and Data) program to modernize the communications infrastructure at U.S. Naval facilities worldwide. As part of the 10-year, $2.9 billion ViViD contract, ATI will provide its FSK+ radios to enable long-haul wireless interbase communications and interconnects with local exchange carriers.

The ViViD contract enables Navy communications officers to upgrade their bases' communications infrastructure through a wide variety of telecommunications and information technology products and services from GTE including data networking equipment, network management and security systems and telephone switches.

ATI's FSK+ radios enable users to transmit voice and data across wireless microwave links. The entire family of FSK+ radios, covering frequency bands of 1.5 to 23 GHz, is available in both non-protected and hot stand-by protected system configurations. Frequency diversity, space diversity and angle diversity are also available.
