GTE SPACENET TO EXPAND THE TRUCKER TELEVISION NETWORK WITH MORE THAN 125 ADDITIONAL SATELLITE INSTALLATIONS

WASHINGTON, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Trucker Television Network announces the signing of a contract with GTE Spacenet to install satellite dishes and monitors in 125 truck stops across North America. This agreement will enable the network to reach more than 500,000 long-haul drivers at truck stops with critical weather, traffic and news reports specifically designed for them.
The agreement will bring to 165 the number of stops receiving the highly heralded network that began broadcasting in October 1992. It is expected that the new sites will be on-line and receiving the network by the end of May.
GTE Spacenet's John Schmuhl, director of Business Television Services, says "This is a significant commitment by our organization that underscores our belief that a private network for truckers is on the edge of a new application of satellite technology and information delivery."
"This agreement with GTE Spacenet confirms our belief that Trucker Television will quickly become the CNN of America's highways and the standard of news and information for an entire industry," said Steve Cohen, president of Trucker Television. "GTE Spacenet will play a major role in expanding our reach and allowing thousands of drivers to see our nightly broadcasts."
Trucker Television is a subsidiary of American Transportation Television Network Inc. (Alberta: AAT) which is a publicly traded company and has broadcast offices in Washington, D.C.
A total of 1,500 truck stops are expected to be receiving Trucker TV by 1995.
