 GTE CUSTOMER NETWORKS WINS MULTI-YEAR MAINTENANCE CONTRACT
 WITH GEORGIA-PACIFIC
 ATLANTA, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- GTE Telephone Operations announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, GTE Customer Networks, Inc., has won a multi-year maintenance contract with Georgia-Pacific Corporation (NYSE: GP) in Atlanta.
 The contract calls for maintenance of Georgia-Pacific's world headquarters telecommunications system, one of the largest stand-alone SL1 systems in the southeastern United States, which includes a fiber optic network. GTE will provide on-site technicians, equipment repair and systems engineering.
 Atlanta-based GTE Customer Networks is a deregulated, autonomous business unit that provides total systems support for complex telecommunications networks, including moves, additions, changes, upgrades and enhancements. GTE Customer Networks also sells and services large local area networks and data management systems for more than 3,200 customers in primarily out-of-franchise, metropolitan areas nationwide.
 GTE Telephone Operations is the largest U.S.-based, local telephone company, providing local phone service through more than 20 million access lines in portions of 40 states, British Columbia, Quebec, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. It also markets telecommunications products and services and supplies computer software and data processing services. GTE Telephone Operations, based in Irving, Texas, is the largest of GTE Corporation's (NYSE: GTE) business groups, with approximately 128,000 employees worldwide and total revenues of $15.7 billion in 1991.
