GROUPS JOINING FORCES TO SAVE CHORALE, SYMPHONY WILL PERFORM TOGETHER.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - Having suffered cutbacks in funding from grant makers and other sources, two Santa Clarita art organizations have discovered a way to keep performing for the public - they're joining forces.

The Santa Clarita Master Chorale chorale (kōrăl`, –räl`), any of the traditional hymns of the German Protestant Church. The form was developed after the Reformation to replace the plainsong of the earlier service and as a means of congregational participation in  and Santa Clarita Symphony will present a joint concert at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hart High School Hart High School may refer to:

The 45-voice Chorale will be accompanied by approximately 20 musicians from the Santa Clarita Symphony in the concert that will include Haydn's ``Lord Nelson Mass'' and Mozart's ``Coronation Mass Coronation Mass is a special kind of Mass, in which a rite of Coronation is celebrated.

``Lord Nelson Mass'' was written in the summer of 1798. It acquired it's nickname in 1800 following the victory of Admiral Horatio Nelson over Napoleon's fleet in the Battle of the Nile. Mozart's ``Mass,'' written for an Easter Day service in 1779, was also given a nickname after it was performed during the coronation festivities fes·tiv·i·ty

Musicians from the Symphony will also perform Ernest Bloch's ``Concerto Grosso No. 1'' featuring the Chorale's accompanist, Ann Moore, at the piano.

``Concerto Grosso No. 1'' was composed in 1924-25 and is one of Bloch's most popular works. The work was written while Bloch was professor of composition at Cleveland Institute of Music The Cleveland Institute of Music is one of the nation's leading independent music conservatories. It is located in the University Circle district of Cleveland, Ohio, United States and is overseen by president David Cerone and Catherine Jarjisian, interim dean. .

Faced with significant cutbacks in funding, the Master Chorale was planning to greatly reduce its use of professional instrumentalists this season in order to maintain a balanced budget Balanced budget

The symphony has not performed since its inaugural concert in the finale of the 2002 Concerts in the Park series.

``We did not have the financial or organizational resources to plan a full symphony season this year, so a joint concert with the Master Chorale was seen by both organizations as an opportunity to combine resources for the benefit of Santa Clarita music lovers,'' said symphony board president Jim Blazer.
