GROUP HEALTH COOPERATIVE SPONSORS INNOVATIVE HEALTHCARE SUMMIT

SEATTLE, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The chief executive officers (CEO) of 13 major manufacturers and distributors of pharmaceuticals and other medical supplies will meet here Friday to discuss ways they might work with Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound to control healthcare costs, Group Health said today.
The CEO Healthcare Summit is, perhaps, the first meeting of healthcare supplies industry chief executive officers intending to take direct action on important healthcare reform issues. The summit is sponsored by Group Health, one of the oldest and largest health maintenance organizations in the country. The cooperative has been broadly recognized for the quality of its services and its industry leadership.
The day-long roundtable discussion will seek to identify ways for suppliers and Group Health to lower the cost of healthcare supplies and services by forging partnerships and by applying the principles of Total Quality Management. Ideas developed during the day could help establish a model to help advance healthcare reform.
