 SIGN COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT
 NORWOOD, Mass., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Groundwater Technology, Inc., (NASDAQ: GWTI) and Kurita Water Industries Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Nov. 18, 1991. The exclusive agreement establishes the cooperation between the companies in evaluating the environmental remediation market in Japan.
 Kurita Water Industries Ltd. is a leader in the water and wastewater treatment industry in Japan primarily serving industrial and municipal market sectors. Since its founding in 1949, the company has focused on developing new technologies to treat water and wastewater efficiently with low energy, non-polluting systems. Research at Kurita Central Laboratories, established in 1951, has developed a wide variety of water treatment technology applications.
 Kurita Water Industries has 1,400 employees and operates in China, most Far Eastern countries, Germany and Brazil. Net sales in FY '91 were $685 million. Capabilities range from the manufacture of water treatment chemicals to the implementation of large scale water purification systems for industry. The company also provides engineering and construction services for large swimming pool systems and fountains as well as household water purification products.
 Groundwater Technology, Inc., is a world leader in on-site remediation of contaminated soils and groundwater, having completed more than 6,000 projects. Since 1975, the company has played a key role in the development of innovative methods, including bioremediation, which treat contamination on-site, as opposed to transporting or storing it. The company is especially recognized for its work in the remediation of sites with leaking underground petroleum storage tanks.
 The company's capabilities range from environmental site investigations and risk assessments to implementation of major remediation programs. Through GTEL Environmental Laboratories and ORS Environmental Equipment, Groundwater Technology also provides analytical laboratory services and precision recovery, abatement, and monitoring systems. The company has nearly 2,000 employees in 60 offices in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia. Sales in FY '91 were in excess of $158 million.
