GROTSPOT WEBSITE PRAISED.
Scores On The Doors, which is celebrating its third anniversary in Liverpool, exposed a series of restaurants and even school canteens for unhygienic practices.
When the database was launched, more than 1,000 businesses were inspected and the results published online saw only 10 achieving the top five-star rating.
Currently, 2,186 premises have been inspected and just 15 of these have no stars at all.
More than 200, nearly five times as many as 2006, have now been awarded five stars.
Big improvers include 60 Hope Street, Allerton Fish Bar, Alder Hey children's hospital and many of the city's schools, colleges and nurseries.
Deb's Diner, in Dovecot, was named and shamed in the ECHO twice for its poor standards, but has now been awarded three stars.
