GRIEF OVER FAMILY'S DEATH IS 'TOO MUCH TO DIGEST'.

Byline: Angie Valencia-Martinez Staff Writer

NORTHRIDGE - Grief-stricken mourners hugged and men were brought to tears at the sight of the row of caskets for the Covarrubias family, killed earlier this week in a horrific chain-reaction crash.

The wake Friday at Crawford Mortuary drew hundreds of stunned stun

``There are no words to describe the type of crying,'' said Gabriel Ramos Gabriel Ramos Villalpando (born September 18, 1986) is a Mexican voice actor who usually voices young people such as Ash Ketchum in Pokémon. He's also a MTV VJ. Filmography

``You go to funerals and know what to expect. You can't be prepared for something like this ... something so huge.''

There were six caskets for Covarrubias, 35; his wife, Anna, 31; their children, Marcos, 10, Xochitl, 9, and Sofia, 3 months; their niece, Paola Hernandez, 2; and nephew, Omar Hernandez, 1.

Anna and baby Sofia, mourners said, were to be interred together.

The family members were killed Monday afternoon when their minivan was struck from behind by a sedan and pushed into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a Ford E-150 full-size van.

The family was minutes away from arriving home on Hitch Boulevard after a day of lunching together and grocery shopping.

Francisco Covarrubias was dedicated to creating a better life for his wife and children, frequently working 12 or 13 hours a day to provide for his family.

Anna Covarrubias was a stay-at-home mom who dedicated her life to their three young children.

Teachers at Walnut Canyon School in Moorpark, where the Covarrubias' older children were enrolled, are rallying behind the family, offering emotional and financial help.

Neighbor Martin Guevara Pereira said he knew the humble family for seven years and spent several Christmases with the Covarrubiases.

``The loss is irreparable,'' he said. ``The family is inconsolable. The sight of six coffins is too much to digest.''

The family was expected to fly Friday night to Mexico, where the seven crash victims were to be buried.

Meanwhile, a shrine with candles, flowers and teddy bears is growing at the crash site at Hitch Boulevard and Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Avenue.

``Somebody put up seven crosses at the makeshift memorial,'' said neighbor Colleen col·leen
