Greuel was elected in 2002 to fill the remainder of the term of Councilman Joel Wachs. Perched atop her horse, Greuel thanked the riders and reiterated her commitment to the San Fernando Valley's equestrian neighborhoods. ``We want to preserve the horse-keeping tradition here in the San Fernando Valley,'' Greuel said. ``Today's ride is a celebration of that tradition with my constituents. We want to ensure that people with horses have equal rights when it comes to planning and land use in the city of Los Angeles
The 2 1/2-hour ride through Lake View Terrace and the Hansen Dam Recreation Center began at 10 a.m. and concluded with a community barbecue.
