GREENCROFT SCHOOL; SPONSORED BY PUBLIC HEALTH NORTH EAST.
The group works with the school kitchen staff and has a garden in the school grounds to grow fruit and vegetables for the dining room. During British Food Fortnight the group investigated the issue of food miles and sampled tradition local dishes that are not well known by young people.
The school also makes its own compost and is in the process of building a greenhouse from plastic bottles.
