GREENBERG TRAURIG EXPANDS INTO WASHINGTON D.C.
WASHINGTON, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenberg Traurig, one of Florida's largest law firms, has expanded its national presence and government relations activities with the opening of a Washington, D.C. office. Headed up by Howard Vine and Michael Gale, the office will concentrate on international trade, environmental issues, health care, banking, housing and community development initiatives, and intergovernmental relations. "Everyday our clients are affected by actions taken in Washington," said firm Managing Director Larry Hoffman. "Our ability to affect those actions for the benefit of our clients is enhanced by a full-time Washington presence." According to Hoffman, "this office provides our clients with skilled people who possess a strong understanding of the issues and knowledge of the workings of both Congress and government agencies." Vine is active in Democratic politics, having worked on various presidential and congressional campaigns as an advisor and fundraiser. He chaired the Clinton/Gore Transition Team which prepared the briefing book for the incoming Council of Economic Advisors. Additionally, Vine serves as advisor to House Majority Leader, Richard Gephardt's Trade and Competitiveness Task Force. Gale, active in the Republican Party, served as deputy director of the Republican National Committee's Outreach Program, as Sen. Arlen Specter's senior legislative assistant, and in the Reagan and Bush Administrations, most recently as the Acting Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs. Various factors attracted Vine and Gale to Greenberg Traurig. The firm's diversity, depth of experience and growth, combined with Florida's positioning in international trade, provide the ideal foundation on which to anchor the Washington office, according to Vine. "Collectively we present a formidable combination of strengths to offer current and future clients," he said. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Howard Vine served as senior vice president and director of international trade, tax and financial services, and Michael Gale served as vice president of trade, tax and financial services for The Jefferson Group, a leading government and public affairs firm. Marvin Rosen, a senior shareholder of Greenberg Traurig, will have responsibility for, and will dedicate a substantial amount of his time managing the Washington office. Clients the firm currently represents for Washington matters include Viacom, MTV, The Torrington Company (a subsidiary of Ingersoll-Rand), Smith Corona Corporation and REN Corporation. Greenberg Traurig is one of Florida's largest law firms with more than 170 attorneys and offices in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Tallahassee, Washington, D.C. and New York City. -0- 4/7/93 /CONTACT: Julio Garcia or Ruben Aguilar of Bruce Rubin Associates, 305-448-7450, for Greenberg Traurig/
