GRECO MAKES HER DECISION: UCLA.

Byline: Rizza Yap Daily News Staff Writer

With a blue and gold cap in her hands, Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  High basketball standout Michelle Greco announced Wednesday she will attend UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles

 next fall.

Colorado fell out of the picture when the Buffaloes received two oral commitments before Greco could visit the campus.

``I'm going to be a Bruin,'' said Greco, who last season averaged 24.6 points, 11.5 rebounds and five assists per game. ``I've always wanted to go to UCLA. It was a dream I had since I was a little kid. And I can't think of anything better than playing in the (Pacific-10 Conference The Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10) is a college athletic conference which operates in the western United States. ``I think UCLA has the most to offer me, especially when I graduate. That UCLA degree also means a lot outside of basketball.''

Greco's father, John, said he is happy with his daughter's decision, which he said was carefully and systematically made after visiting her top three schools. He also is glad that Michelle chose a local university.

``From a selfish standpoint, I get to see more of her games this way,'' he said with a smile.

Eagles coach Damian Scribner, who was a sounding board for Greco during her decision-making process, said having her stay in Southern California is good news for her fans.

``We have a lot of people in the community that are always going to want to follow her, so this is fantastic,'' Scribner said. ``She picked a great place where she fits in well and can contribute right away.''

And how did UCLA coach Kathy Olivier react to winning over Greco?

``She was in a meeting when I called, and she ran out to talk to me,'' Greco said. ``It was sweet.''
