(5-3, 3-0) took as big a step toward what was likely a title-deciding victory with a near-perfect third quarter, in which they overcame a 17-0 lead by Serra (4-4, 2-1) by scoring on four successive possessions.

The first three of those scores - Grasu's 30-yard field goal, Matt Wabby's 64-yard touchdown pass to Cary Jensen-Madison and Darren Brown's 28-yard touchdown run on a reverse - came on three successive offensive plays.

``We knew we were coming back, that's all we were thinking,'' said Crespi two-way starter Josh Morgan, who had a team-high 50 yards rushing and delivered some of the biggest hits as part of a Crespi defense that rose to the occasion in the second half. ``We were just thinking how to come back.''

That didn't look likely the way Serra dominated play in the first half, outgaining the Celts 156-26 in total yards and scoring on three successive possessions.

Sparked by a marvelous diving catch by Tuihalamaka and hard running by Hardaway, Serra took a 24-23 lead on Boyles' second touchdown reception of the game - a 14-yard catch and spin into the end zone.
