PepsiCo's board intends to elect Steve Reinemund, currently PepsiCo president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.

Reinemund will be replacing Roger Enrico, who will resign from his CEO position before the end of 2001 and retire as chairman before the end of 2002. He also led PepsiCo's former Pizza Hut division from 1986 to 1992.

Unilever Group, consisting of Unilever N.V. and Unilever Plc, named several Bestfoods executives to its newly created foods division, effective Jan. 1. Anthony Simon is named president, marketing; Diego Bevilacqua, president, foodservice; Neil Beckerman, president, Foods North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. ; Oscar Imbellone, executive vice president, Foods Latin America Latin America, the Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. ; Richard Oppenheim, executive vice president, Foods Europe; and Jim Liberty, senior vice president, human resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees. . Merrill Eastman will remain as president, Bestfoods Baking Co.

Unilever also named a host of other executives to new positions, including: Dick Shoemate, Bestfoods' chairman and chief executive, who elected to become an advisory director for Unilever, and not continue in a full-time executive role. Roy Brown There have been a number of notable people named Roy Brown:
  • Roy Brown, the Canadian pilot who was originally credited with shooting down the Red Baron
  • Roy Brown (1925–81), a blues musician who was a pioneer of rock and roll
  • Roy Brown Ramírez (b.
, president of Unilever's foods and beverages Europe unit and a director, will retire from his position Jan. 1, due to medical conditions. Unilever also named John Rice as Lipton USA's president and chief executive, president, Foods Latin America and president of Slimfast worldwide. Manfred Stach will become president, Foods Europe.

United Distillers and Vintners (UDV) appointed Glenn Proctor to vice president of winegrowing. Proctor joined UDV in 1987.

Greg Wonsmos (president, Centennial Fine Wine and Spirits) was elected president of the National Association of Beverage Retailers, replacing Reuben Kogut, who had resigned. Ed Jue (Jue & Associates) was elected vice president, region three, replacing Wonsmos.

Cott Corp. promoted Michael Daniels to vice president, Six Sigma Quality. Prior to joining Cott last year, Daniels held positions with Magneteck Inc. and ASEA Brown Boveri. Six Sigma is a statistical approach to continuous process improvement.

Streamline.com promoted Lawrence Anderson to chief financial officer. Prior to joining Streamline earlier this year, Anderson served with Ro-Jack's Food Stores and Star Market Co.

SYSCO SYSCO Systems and Services Company  Corp. named Cameron Blakely as assistant vice president, eBusiness. Blakely, currently vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Robert Orr-Sysco Food Services food services Hospital services A 24/7 department in a hospital that provides for the nutritional needs of inpatients–eg, those needing special diets, preparing meals and transporting them to the floor and, through the cafeteria, the hospital staff and  Company, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

The Labatt Brewing Company Ltd. tapped Bruce Elliot as president, Labatt Breweries of Canada. A 23-year veteran of Labatt, Elliot most recently was president, Labatt Breweries Ontario.

Gary Pilnick joined Kellogg Co. as vice president and deputy general counsel. Pilnick comes to Kellogg from Sara Lee Corp., where he served most recently as vice president and chief counsel. Separately, Kellogg named Rajan Nagarajan as vice president and chief information officer. Nagarajan comes to Kellogg from Ford Motor Co., where he held similar positions.
