Byline: Christopher Noxon Daily News Staff Writer

A woman and her grandson drowned Wednesday afternoon when the grandmother apparently attempted to rescue the toddler from the backyard swimming pool, police said.

The 21-month-old boy was strapped in a stroller at the time of the drowning, but police were unsure how the child ended up at the bottom of the deep end, said Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  police Lt. Tony Harper.

``It appears that (the) grandmother and the child were home alone and for some reason, the child fell into the pool in his stroller,'' Harper said. ``The grandmother, in an apparent attempt to save him, also drowned.''

The victims, identified as Anahit and Daniel Dolmaian, were rushed to Simi Valley Hospital Simi Valley Hospital (SVH) is a Seventh-day Adventist hospital located located in Simi Valley, California. SVH is a member of Adventist Health. New Construction

The woman's age was unavailable, but Harper said she appeared to be in her 60s.

Police responded to a call for help at a single-story home in the 500 block of Dodd Street at 5:30 p.m. The child's mother, Larrsa Dolmaian, had returned home with her 4-year-old son to discover her other boy and mother-in-law in the pool, said Harper.

When the mother found the victims, she ran into the street yelling for help. Two neighbors scaled the back wall, jumped in the pool and pulled the toddler from the bottom of the pool.

Police were unsure if the grandmother could swim but said they found her head and shoulders in the pool and the rest of her body on the pool deck. The family was too distraught dis·traught
