GRANCARE EXPANDS HOME HEALTH CARE OPERATIONS

CULVER CITY, Calif., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- GranCare Inc. (NASDAQ: GRNC) has acquired Coordinated Home Health, Coordinated Nursing Services Inc. and Infusion Plus Inc., located in Los Angeles and Orange County, Calif., expanding GranCare's home health care and infusion therapy businesses. The operations, which have annual revenues of approximately $4.0 million, provide a range of at-home patient services, private duty nursing, and infusion therapy services. The transaction involved cash and seller financing.
"This acquisition is an important expansion of GranCare's home health care segment and infusion therapy, consistent with the overall broadening of services we offer," said Gene E. Burleson, GranCare president and chief executive officer. "These profitable businesses are an ideal complement with our existing operations and also represent higher margins to the company."
Existing Coordinated companies' management will remain with GranCare, including founders Lydia Chin and N.J. Freeman.
GranCare operates 84 long-term health care facilities located in California, Wisconsin, Colorado, Arizona, South Dakota and Michigan as well as four institutional pharmacies. The company reported revenues of $175 million and net income of $3.8 million for the year ended Dec. 31, 1991, and revenues of $201.1 million and net income of $6.6 million for the nine months ended Sept. 30, 1992.
