GRANADA HILLS RALLIES FOR CITY TITLE HIGHLANDERS OVERCOME TWO-GAME DEFICIT TO BEAT TAFT IN FINAL GRA. HILLS 3, TAFT 2.

Granada Hills' Arthur Mogilevski turned from his position on the floor during a crucial point in Friday's City Section boys' volleyball volleyball, outdoor or indoor ball and net game played on a level court. An upright net, 3 ft (or 1 m) high, the top of which stands 8 ft (2.43 m) from the ground for men, 7 ft 4 1/8 in (2.  championship match, looked towards the Highlanders' rooting section and moved his hand towards his ear, motioning to the crowd that he couldn't hear them.

The senior didn't have to repeat the gesture.

A wild celebration at midcourt ensued not long after, as the top-seeded Highlanders rallied from a two-game deficit to beat second-seeded Taft of Woodland Hills 20-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18 15-11 at Cal State Northridge.

``Things didn't look good for a while there,'' Granada Hills coach Tom Harp Tom Harp was a college football coach at Cornell, Duke, and Indiana State. ``We finally settled down in the third game, got some momentum and never gave it away. We overcame some things tonight.''

The Highlanders (17-1) opened an 11-8 lead in the decisive fifth game amid some confusion, as the referees stopped the game several times to figure out the correct score. It didn't distract Granada Hills, which claimed its first title in nine years on a Josh Chong kill.

``We really came together tonight,'' Mogelivski said. ``Our fans were great, and we put the game away when we had to.''

The victory was sweet revenge for Granada Hills, which lost to the Toreadors in the City semfinals three of the previous four years, twice when the Highlanders were the top seed.

said. ``Give Granada Hills credit. They were tough. We knew all along that they were the team to beat. They proved it.''

Taft seized the momentum early in the first game, then finished strongly after Granada Hills had rallied for an 18-16 advantage. Junior Malal's block gave Taft a 23-19 lead, and Shawn Ahdoot's kill sealed the win in Game 1.

Taft carried the momentum into the second game, taking a 9-5 lead, and 6-foot-9 Garrett Green provided three blocks and kill for a 24-20 advantage. The second game was clinched on an unforced error.

It appeared all but over, but the Highlanders gave an inspired performance in the third game.

Daniel Chae Chong, Mogilevski and De Vera played big at the net in Game 4, combining for several blocks to help the Highlanders take 12-10 and 17-12 and 23-16 leads. De Vera's kill forced a decisive fifth game.
