GRACE TO EXPAND IN EASTERN EUROPEAN MARKETS

BOCA RATON, Fla., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- W. R. Grace & Co. (NYSE: GRA) today announced plans to expand its business in Eastern Europe. It recently has established subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. The subsidiaries, with offices in the capital cities of Prague, Budapest and Warsaw, will serve as market pathways for the introduction of Grace specialty chemicals and health care products and services into Eastern Europe. The office in Prague will represent Grace's business interests in the Czech Republic as well as Slovakia. This expansion brings Grace's global operations to a total of 50 countries worldwide.
"The restructuring towards open, decentralized market economies is now reaching the stage when we can start conducting our business as in any other Western country," said Lars E. Moeller, regional director, Eastern Europe, Grace Europe. "The establishment of these local operations, likely to be followed by further investments in other East European countries, is the first step towards a major business development in these emerging markets. In addition to the projected expansion, we believe Grace can deliver products and services to improve the standard of living. For example, Grace's technologies in food packaging, emission control, water treatment and health care can play a role in rebuilding the local industries while adding to the quality of life."
Grace is the world's largest specialty chemicals company with a leadership position in health care.
