 is to race at five of its six stadia on Good Friday Good Friday, anniversary of Jesus' death on the cross. According to the Gospels, Jesus was put to death on the Friday before Easter Day. It is a modern residential seaside resort.  and Romford to race on the first occasion that cash betting has been legal on the Bank Holiday.

"All our tracks will be open for greyhound racing except Perry Barr, which has a speedway fixture that day," said GRA spokesman Stephen Rea. "To be honest, I was surprised to see such a big deal being made about Coral racing because I presumed just about everyone would now it was legal."

Unlike the Coral tracks which, if the meetings are confirmed, will race in the day to service the bookmaking firm's betting shops, the GRA meetings will be in their usual evening slots.

Not everyone is as keen to race as Coral and the GRA - it will be a blank day at Sunder-land. "We will not be racing at Sunderland which is our Friday evening venue," said Joe O'Donnell, director of stadia for William Hill."
