) officials announce the appointment of Diane M. Miller to Director of Internal Audit for GPU Service, Inc. In this new capacity Ms. Miller will oversee GPU's internal auditing functions which include financial, operational, computer, compliance, international and investigative auditing. Initially she will continue to report to Peter E. Maricondo, who has been elected Vice President, Comptroller and Chief Accounting Officer for GPU, Inc. effective December 16, 1998. From that date she will administratively report to Ira H. Jolles, GPU Service, Inc. Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Ms. Miller joined the GPU system in 1994 as Senior Environmental Attorney with Jersey Central Power & Light and counseled the utility in all areas of environmental law. In 1996 she was promoted to Manager of Internal Auditing where she most recently managed the compliance auditing functions and internal fraud investigative team for the GPU family of companies. Prior to joining GPU, she was an environmental defense counsel for Shanley & Fisher, P.C. in Morristown specializing in a broad spectrum of private and corporate environmental issues.

She is a member of the American Bar Association American Bar Association (ABA), voluntary organization of lawyers admitted to the bar of any state. Founded (1878) largely through the efforts of the Connecticut Bar Association, it is devoted to improving the administration of justice, seeking uniformity of law , New Jersey State Bar Association, Morris County Bar Association, the Institute of Internal Auditing, the Board of Environmental Auditor Certifications and the Environmental Auditing Round Table. In addition, Ms. Miller is a Certified See certification.  Professional Environmental Auditor.
