GPU Informs Communities About Y2K Efforts.

In support of this initiative, GPU representatives have made more than 200 informational presentations to a variety of community groups including local chambers, citizen groups, emergency management agencies, governmental entities, and healthcare organizations. Additionally, the utility has provided customers with new information through a variety of ways including updates to the company's website, bill inserts, direct mailings and videotapes.  and toll-free customer call-in line, and all told, GPU representatives have had contact with or responded to nearly 6,000 customer inquiries about the company's Year 2000 initiatives.

Customers with questions or comments about the Year 2000 program at GPU can submit them to GPU's Year 2000 project office via the year 2000 mailbox A simulated mailbox in the computer that holds e-mail messages. Mailboxes are stored on disk as a file of messages, a database of messages or as an individual file for each message. The standard mailboxes are usually In, Out, Trash and Junk (Spam).  at Year2000@gpu.com. There is also a toll-free number dedicated to answering related questions at 1-888-GPU-4Y2K or 1-888-478-4925. Customers can also visit the company website at www.gpu.com. GPU's Year 2000 Project office is fully staffed and all company business units are participating in a broad-based program to address Year 2000 concerns.
