Areas affected include Old Bridge, Belford, Berkeley, Lakewood and Point Pleasant in Central New Jersey and the Summit region in Northern New Jersey. The storms brought to an end a week of intense heat in the region, but also brought frequent and severe lightning and gusting winds.
