Currently 11,000 customers remain out of service, 9,000 in Central New Jersey and 2,000 in Northern New Jersey. Areas affected include Old Bridge, Belford, Berkeley, Lakewood and Point Pleasant in Central New Jersey and the Summit region in Northern New Jersey. The storms brought to an end a week of intense heat in the region, but also brought frequent and severe lightning and gusting winds.
