Energy President Dennis Dennis is a male first name derived from the Greco-Roman name Dionysius meaning "servant of Dionysus", the Thracian god of wine, which is ultimately derived from the Greek Dios (Διος, "of Zeus") combined with Nysos or Nysa (Νυσα), where the Baldassari declared de·clare v. de·clared, de·clar·ing, de·clares v.tr. 1. After this legislation is passed I want to continue to provide reliable electric service for the people and businesses of New Jersey. "GPU Energy believes that New Jersey's approach to electric utility restructuring restructuring - The transformation from one representation form to another at the same relative abstraction level, while preserving the subject system's external behaviour (functionality and semantics). should focus on creating a framework for a robust power supply market. However robust electric competition cannot develop if consumers are not confident in the reliability of their electric service. Consumers will not enter the market if they think that shopping for electricity will leave them in the dark literally." Baldassari said licensing standards could help ensure reliability. "Keeping electric service reliable in a competitive world will require that competitive electric power suppliers be dependable, and licensing standards can ensure that they are." The GPU Energy president also spoke about rate reductions and the potential for decreased reliability. "GPU Energy believes that calls for unrealistic rate reductions- reductions beyond those proposed in the legislation - would have unintended consequences For the "Law of unintended consequences", see Unintended consequence Unintended Consequences is a novel by author John Ross, first published in 1996 by Accurate Press. ," Baldassari declared. "One of those consequences could be a reduction in reliability." Baldassari said electricity prices are not plucked pluck v. plucked, pluck·ing, plucks v.tr. 1. "The drastic proposed additional cuts would affect funding for maintaining, upgrading and repairing the system of wires and equipment that deliver electricity to customers. This is the work that provides reliable delivery of electricity. Clearly, reliable service is endangered en·dan·ger tr.v. en·dan·gered, en·dan·ger·ing, en·dan·gers 1. - Since GPU Energy has chosen to sell its generating stations,
it will not be competing for customers against municipal
aggregators, private aggregators or any other suppliers and
therefore to further the consumers' best interests will work
with qualified suppliers, whether that initially includes
municipal aggregators or not.
- GPU Energy wants to develop a flexible workforce that can
bid and work on outside projects in addition to performing
the traditional work inside the company.
- GPU Energy believes the legislation is correct in requiring
suppliers to meet standards set by the Mid-Atlantic Area
Council of the North American Electric Reliability Council
and the PJM Interconnection.
- GPU Energy urges that licensing standards require that
electric power suppliers demonstrate sufficient credit
worthiness according to standard commercial practices to
protect consumers from being left stranded by a supplier
that fails to deliver promised electricity or abandons the
market.
"The competitive marketplace for electricity can and will bring many benefits to New Jersey consumers. This legislation must be a balanced and fair approach to bringing those benefits. We can do this the right way and ensure that no one is left in the dark," Baldassari concluded. |
