In his new role, Hughes will have executive management responsibilities for all of GPU's international utility operations (currently in the United Kingdom, Australia and Argentina) and the company's independent power projects worldwide. Hughes will report directly to Hafer.

"By consolidating GPU's international operations into a unified group with a single point of executive management, we have the ability to resourcefully extract the most value from our global presence and maximize our asset management expertise," said Hughes.

In his new position, Lantzy will report to Hughes. Previously Lantzy was senior vice president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

In July of this year, GPU, Inc. acquired Cinergy Global Resources Inc.'s 50 percent equity share of Midlands, making Midlands a wholly-owned subsidiary of GPU, Inc.
